TelehealthFAQ

Do you have questions about Telehealth (online physiotherapy consultations)? You’ll find answers to the most common Telehealth FAQ (frequently asked questions) below. Have more questions? Why not call or email us?

Telehealth FAQ 1: Online video consults vs face-to-face, how do people get better without hands on treatment?

The latest research identifies that the important drivers that help people improve are actually things like having a clear understanding of their pain and having strategies to control it. While hands on treatment can help in the short term, it’s not the active ingredient. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

Telehealth FAQ 2: Physio as an essential service… why has Body Logic decided to continue offering online appointments?

For the safety of our patients and our staff. We know we could still provide the same, high levels of care via Telehealth for our patients. We have been offering Telehealth appointments for our patients for many years (even before the pandemic!) and treat patients from all over the world. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 3: How can I get better without hands on treatment? Traditional physio vs contemporary physio.

Physiotherapy has evolved from relying on hands on therapy. High quality physiotherapy care now aims to empower people to understand and self-manage their condition, which can be done via Telehealth. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 4: Coaching people to get better and stay better, isn’t that a bad business model?

Empowering people to be in charge of their own health is the best model for health care. Coaching people through this process and seeing the friends and family of our patients who share their experiences through word of mouth keeps us busy. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 5: What advice would you give to people with health/pain problems during these uncertain, COVID-19 times?

Get creative to incorporate healthy lifestyle habits (such as innovative home exercise programs) into daily life. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 6: What should a consumer look for (and lookout for) in a Telehealth or online video consultation?

Someone who listens to their story, conducts a thorough assessment (including assessing meaningful tasks), and provides strategies to help them achieve their specific goals. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 7: Could cancelled elective surgeries have a silver lining for some people?

Unfortunately, many people have had their elective surgery for back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, hip pain and knee pain cancelled. There is strong evidence that high quality physiotherapy consisting of education, exercise and healthy lifestyle change can be as effective as many orthopaedic surgeries, with lower cost and less risk. At the very least, this care will better equip people for a good outcome if and when the surgery goes ahead. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.

FAQ 8: CFT (Cognitive Functional Therapy), what is it?

Cognitive functional therapy is mind-body physiotherapy treatment for disabling back pain. It coaches people to understand their pain, and get back to living again. This treatment is also for people with other disabling conditions such as neck, shoulder, hip and knee pain. Watch the video below for a more detailed answer.
