New road map for caring for people with low back pain

The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care recently released the Clinical Care Standards for Low Back Pain.

These standards provide an important ‘road map for clinicians and consumers about the best care for people with low back pain’.

Body Logic clinical director Prof Peter O’Sullivan was invited by the commission to sit on the panel of expert clinicians and researchers, directly involved in the two year development of the standards.

The standard advocates for a shift towards active approaches to support the one in six Australians with low back pain.

The model of care advocated by the standard is exactly what we deliver at Body Logic.

While the standards are specific to low back pain, scientific evidence supports the use of the same principles for the care of all musculoskeletal pain conditions.
